Bonarka City Center is brand new shopping center in Krakow, opened in November 2009. Located on the southern part on Wisla river, Bonarka was put up in the area of Podgorze , where industrial complex had been operating for decades, producing cement and artificial fertilizers, taking advantage of the historical machinery and devices. The Bonarka area needed restoration. It had been neglected and degraded for years and the investment required integrated action in couple of fields, including infrastructure, social function and ecology. Apart from the shopping mall, a penthouse area and business center is being erected to create new, vibrant district in Krakow.
As for the design, Bonarka in Krakow was as a contemporary interpretation of city streets and trade square chains. To supply as much of the nautal daylight as possible there is glass roof surface covering bringing warmth to the interior.
