Description

Whether you have just arrived to Krakow and want to orientate yourself in the city, or want to experience its beauty when the sun goes down, this tour will give you what you are looking for. Your tour guide will show you the most beautiful and interesting places and monuments in the city and tell you about the hidden stories behind them. You will learn old secrets, tales of alchemists, vampires, witches and kings. Meeting point We will meet you at the entrance to the Rynek Underground Museum, Rynek Główny 1, 31-042 Kraków. Sightseeing part I (~ 1h) A professional local guide will take you for the first part of the walk to the Florian Gate, the oldest gate in the city. The walk leads along romantic, mysterious and mystical streets, squares and alleys next to the catacombs, the bell for the dying and the only place where convicts could stop and light a candle. This is a particularly mystical part of the tour, during which you will have the opportunity to photograph non-obvious but beautiful places in Krakow that are known only to city residents. Then you will see the beautiful building of Slowacki Theater - a copy of the Garnier Opera in Paris, and the former medieval hospital of St. Roch which offered treatment to the poor. You will go through the Small Market Square where people were burned live in the Middle Ages for offences against God and counterfeiting coins, and finally you will reach the Main Market Square. Break for rest and a cup of delicious coffee (0.5h) You will rest while sipping a cup of coffee in a former medieval inn located near a prison and a torture chamber. Sightseeing part II (~ 1h) You will discover the Main Square and all the most important monuments located there. You will also learn about the location of the bell for the dying, the lantern protecting Krakow from plague, the old cemeteries, the pillory and the martens. You will discover deeply hidden, sometimes dark, stories of Krakow and the mysterious places where the executioner announced the death of the condemned. Then you will go to the picturesque University Quarter with Collegium Maius, the oldest of the preserved university buildings, where the world famous Nicolaus Copernicus and John Paul II studied. Next, the walk will lead you along the Royal Route to the Wawel Castle. You will discover mysterious narrow streets and learn stories about alchemists, vampires, witches and kings that are known only to the Cracovians who live here. You will also have the opportunity to take unique photos. End of the tour You will end the tour on Kanonicza Street, the oldest street in the city, from where you will admire the wonderful view of the Wawel Castle. After the tour you may want to try one of the many atmospheric restaurants, recommended to you by your guide, to enjoy a delicious dinner and experience the magical atmosphere of the city. The next morning you may join our company on another tour.
