Description

Take a half-day trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine where a local guide will escort you through the historic underground chambers. A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Wieliczka Salt Mine dates back to medieval times and has an extensive underground network of tunnels and constructions made from salt.  Enjoy a guided walk along the 3-kilometre-long tourist route 135 metres under the ground. Experience the health benefits of its special climate and its micro-element filled air. See the chapels made of salt constructed by the miners, as well as the spectacular salt chandeliers. Pickup from Krakow begins at 8:30 AM with arrival at the salt mine around 9:30 AM. The trip also includes free time during which you can independently explore the areas of the mine and Saltworks Castle.

Important Information

• There are 800 steps to climb, and 350 of these are at the beginning, taking you down into the mine. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes
• Please bring warm clothing
• Smoking and the use of open fire in the mine is strictly forbidden
• Baby carriages and luggage larger than 30 x 20 x 10 cm are not permitted inside the museum - please leave them at your hotel
• No animals are allowed in the mine
