The highlight of the Old Town is the Royal Route. It begins in the northern part of the Old Town at St. Florian's Church, which contains the relics of the Patron Saint of Poland, St. Florian. The historic path continues on 3 streets, Floriańska, Grodzka, and Kanonicza. You will also walk through St. Florian's Gate, an impressive Gothic tower as well as the only remaining of the 8 medieval city gates. Next, you will visit the Main Market Square. This is the largest medieval square in Europe and home to many historic buildings. The central feature of the Square is the Sukiennice, a Renaissance Cloth Hall with fabulous arcades designed by Italian architect J.M. Padovano. The Royal Route comes to an end at the foot of the Wawel Hill. If chosen the option, you will hear about the Hill and admire the Wawel Royal Castle.
