Description
This experience honors Oskar Schindler and those he saved by showcasing his courageous actions amid Kraków’s occupation. The tour begins at Schindler’s Enamel Factory museum, featuring the permanent exhibition “Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945.” A licensed guide leads you through the story of Schindler’s efforts to protect Jewish workers from deportation.
Through photographs, personal items, and reconstructed streets, the exhibition reveals the fear and hardship faced by the city’s residents. Schindler’s story is told alongside testimonies from the survivors, highlighting compassion and defiance in a time of oppression.
The walking tour continues to remaining fragments of the Kraków Ghetto, including Józefińska 41 — a former orphanage, welfare office, and hospital — and the Memorial of Chairs, marking the site of deportations to concentration camps. You will also see the Under the Eagle Pharmacy, where the pharmacist and staff provided medicine and help under great personal risk.
