We will pick you up from your hotel, the journey is only 20 minutes. Here you will meet your guide to get to know and feel the atmosphere of this extraordinary place. The long and poignant history of Tyniec is also a particular invitation to reflect more deeply on the role of the monastery as a meeting place and its significance for contemporary European society. The question about the place of the Benedictine monastery has to be set in today's social and cultural context: the globalisation of the world and, at the same time, the deepening separatisms, the increasing pace of life, a kind of overgrowth of social forms and communication, the paradoxes of 'anonymity/loneliness on the net'. The idea of the 'monastery as a place of encounter', can be read as a proposal for the monastery to be a place of exchange, that is, a meeting between a still vital Christianity and various forms of 'post-Christian' culture increasingly less interested in remembering its roots.
