Description
Skip the crowded streets and see Kraków from the water. Hire your own private motorboat on the Vistula - no licence required, no experience needed, no guide on board. You take the wheel, your crew comes along, and you drive yourself through the heart of the city, past Wawel Castle and under Kraków's bridges, at your own pace.
This isn't a guided tour. There's no fixed route, no scripted commentary, no group of strangers, and no schedule to keep. It's a private boat, hired by the hour or for the whole day, and what you do on it is up to you. Some people drift slowly past Wawel for an hour. Some take a sunset cruise with the right crew and a playlist. Some bring the kids and turn it into a floating picnic. We don't tell you which one is right - you decide.
Our jetty is at Bulwar Rodła, a short walk from the Old Town and Kazimierz. When you arrive, we'll go through everything you need to know at the dock: how to start the engine, how to steer, how to dock when you come back. It takes about ten minutes. The engines are deliberately simple - small enough that Polish law doesn't require a licence to drive them. Most of our captains have never driven a boat before. Nobody has struggled yet.
From the water, the city looks different. Wawel Castle rises directly above you. The bridges feel closer. The riverbanks are quieter than the streets behind them. You can head towards Kazimierz, drift up past the bend at Salwator, or just stop the engine somewhere in the middle and let the boat sit. There's no rush, no checkpoint, no tour map. As far as you fancy, in whatever direction you choose.
This works for almost any group. Couples take it out for a quiet romantic afternoon or a sunset cruise with champagne. Hen and stag parties make it the centrepiece of their weekend - private, photogenic, and nothing like a pub crawl. Families bring snacks, kids, and turn the boat into a floating playground. Solo travellers take an hour out to escape the queues. Companies use it for team off-sites and small client gatherings. If you've got a reason to mark the day, the boat will hold it.
Each boat seats up to five people. If your group is larger - up to ten - you can hire both, and head out together. Bookings start at one hour and go up to a full day. Fuel, lifejackets, a brief dock introduction, and everything else you need are included. Besides the driver's photo ID, bring only a bit of sun cream and whatever drinks or snacks you'd like on board.
Mornings on the Vistula are calm and quiet, ideal for a slower start or family trip. Afternoons are warmer and busier on the banks. The hour before sunset turns everything gold - Wawel especially. If you want the kind of view people remember, book a late slot.
The view from the river is the part of Kraków most visitors miss - quieter, slower, more private. A different perspective. A better one.
