Auschwitz I Museum & Memorial:
Enter Auschwitz I through the 'Arbeit Macht Frei' gate. Equipped with a headset, your group—limited to 30 (or 15) visitors explore the touching remnants. See original barracks, fortified walls, barbed wires and gas chambers. This segment, lasting approximately 2 hours, offers a poignant reflection on the Holocaust's staggering scale.
Transition to Birkenau:
After a 15-minute break, head to Birkenau (Auschwitz II), just a 3-minute drive. Delve deeper into the camp's grim history, learn about the harrowing tales of prisoners, atrocious living conditions. The guide ends by talking about liberation of Auschwitz, stressing how important it is to remember and stop such terrible things from happening again. This part of the tour takes about 1 hour. Remember, the entire camp is massive, so you won't see everything.
