Somewhat coyly defined as incorporating 'the flavours of Mexico and Latin America', Manzana is rapidly gaining a reputation as the best place to eat Mexican in Krakow. Occupying spacious premises on a quiet corner in fashionable Kazimierz, Manzana has managed to combine bang-up-to-date styling with clear visual cues to Mexican and Latin American themes.
Rooms open up either side of the entranceway, or you can continue straight on into the garden at the rear. To the left is the bar, which, amongst a huge selection of drinks, offers the largest range of tequilas in Krakow. Really, though, it's the food that you've come here for, with Mexican classics such as burritos and tacos prepared with that little bit extra attention to detail and quality. They also do a mighty fine burger and a number of other main dishes and salads, even offering appealing choices for vegetarians - who are not usually well catered for in Mexican restaurants. The open kitchen offers the opportunity to watch the chefs at work, and presentation is considered as important as the ingredients themselves.
In fact you could start your day in Manzana, with a cup of Italian or fresh-ground Mexican coffee, and one of a number of breakfasts, thoughtfully expanded from purely Mexican to include American-style pancakes or a full English cooked breakfast. Try to resist hitting the mojitos too early, though, or you could find yourself still there come dinnertime!
Finally, mention should be made of the service, which garners consistently high praise from customers across the board for both its cheerfulness and efficiency. Manzana is the kind of place that you might choose to go to for a treat, but in fact many items on the menu are so reasonably priced that you could probably talk yourself into visiting on the flimsiest of pretexts.
