A Love Letter to Zalipianki’s. Look, I’ve long argued that the pig is a magical, beautiful animal, and the ribs at Zalipianki’s are the kind of transcendent, porky epiphany that makes you profoundly grateful you possess canine teeth. It’s an unholy, glorious celebration of carnivorism. But then the universe throws you a curveball. They bring out a chilled cucumber soup and a beet salad so utterly, blindingly spectacular that it induces a minor existential crisis. It’s the kind of cooking that makes you question your entire identity, staring blankly into the middle distance, wondering if you should abandon your life of sin and become a devout vegetarian. It’s that good. The Libations To wash down this emotional rollercoaster, there is a rose lemon tea that is a masterclass in liquid equilibrium. And the cocktails? Dangerous. Beautifully, beautifully dangerous. The kind of perfectly balanced alchemy that makes you think, "You know, a slide into functional alcoholism doesn't sound so bad if it tastes like this." The Front Line None of this magic happens by accident. You are welcomed into this sanctuary not by mere staff, but by a holy trinity of hospitality: Kamil, Yuliama, and Milema. These aren't order-takers; they are the gatekeepers of a top-notch, frictionless dining experience that makes you want to sprint back through the front doors before you’ve even digested your first course. I’m not being hyperbolic here. This isn't just dinner; this is some of the freshest, most profoundly honest food humans are capable of producing. One small caveat was that I did seem to wait an inordinate amount of time for my salad to come but, hey we’re all human, right!? In their defense it was a busy weekend and Kumil was super apologetic with his warm beautiful smile! Before I arrived in Krakòw, I didn't know what to expect from the Polish culinary landscape. Now? I’d happily endure a grueling, cross-continental pilgrimage back to Kraków just to sit at this specific table again. If you haven't been, drop everything and run. Note to Zalipianki’s Owners: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE open up a location in Turin, Italy.
We booked a table for 20 for our Wedding Reception. The menu was outstanding! Our guests were blown away by the cuisine. Ewa Wachowicz herself came to our table to give us her best wishes. The decor and tableware were beautiful.
If you find yourself wandering Krakow's Old Town after a hectic day, you have to find a spot that serves traditional Polish soups. The soups here are always phenomenal, but their clear bone broth s on another level. Walking in exhausted and ordering a bowl felt like instant medicine. It is incredibly rich, deeply comforting, and gave such immense relief after a long day of walking. It is the ultimate culinary hug and a perfect remedy for travel fatigue!
Great food - probably the best meal we had in Krakow. Nice service
