Seafood Restaurants in Krakow

If you’re in Krakow and want to skip the usual pierogi for something lighter or more ocean-inspired, seafood restaurants can be a real treat. The city's not coastal, but some places take their seafood seriously, serving everything from Baltic herring to scallops that surprise you with how fresh they taste.

One thing to know: seafood here often reflects what’s available locally or from the Baltic Sea. So, smoked fish and pickled herring pop up on menus just as often as fish and chips inspired dishes. Flavors can lean Polish-traditional or with a modern twist, especially around Kazimierz where younger chefs like to get creative.

Heads-up: the best seafood spots tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends. If you want to try fresh oysters, you’ll probably have the best luck early evening at Motyla Cafe or Czerwony Pies - that last place is one of my favorites for a casual but tasty seafood dinner. Oh, and summer is a good time to visit since they sometimes have outdoor seating near the river, making it a nice place to relax after wandering around the Old Town. Just don’t expect oceanfront views, Krakow’s charm is a different kind of wonderful.
