Great choice if you are looking for a restaurant in Krakow to eat local traditional food. The place has a great environment as well. My dinner choice was the traditional soup Durek which is a must when traveling to Poland. I also tried the pierogis, and a local Krakow shredded beef sandwich. The portions were perfect for the price. I could not finish my dinner so I was able to take it to my hotel. The dinner was full of flavor, the environment was great, prices amazing, and the service was wonderful. I went on a Thursday night, which had live music. There was plenty of seating, although I recommend making a reservation if your group is large. I would definitely return to this restaurant when I return to Krakow.
After reading all reviews maybe my expactations were too high. We got table quite easy 10 min waiting on line. But then it took almost 20 min we could do order. We ordered starters, main, beers and also aperitivo. From house we got cucumber and sauer kraut but not yet drinks. Then all food arrives (starters and main same time) but still no aperitivo drinks. Finally I manage to cancel them since no point to have then after eating. That is reason why only 2 stars for service. Tip if you order pork knuckle it serves best for two. For one it is really waste of food. (Price comes per 1 kg so it is also quite expensive!)
Amazing restaurant. Thoroughly attentive, informative and helpful staff. The food is delicious, large portions and full of flavour. Woth a selection of traditional dishes from Poland and the surround countries that have all had an Influence to the country we now and love. Absolutely recommend booking in advance, even a day or two via thier online website or in person to e sure you don't miss out. Not a tourist trap and very good value for money. Will visit again!
I know this place is a bit gimmicky but we had a great time! Firstly a HUGE shout out to the sweet girl on the front greeting, doing her absolute best balancing incoming walk-ins, booked tables, phones and fairly rude customers in that mix. She was younger with brown hair tied back, she was killing it!! We arrived as walk ins and had been rold that their card machine was down, the hostess even directed us to a card machine when we asked. Returning with cash we waited in a large line which moved fairly quickly. We were tried after a day on our feet and not much food, and genuinely accidentally ordered over a litre of beer each! Which we triumphed over! Food was good, came out quickly, a bit on the expensive side but that’s more touristy spots, being just outside the main castle. Highly recommend the chicken with butter and peas! The restaurant clearly had some old gimmick about weight? Or doctors? But it doesn’t appear to work off that in today’s age. We wish we had gotten more cash out as the deserts sounded great too.
We got a table very quickly, which was a great start, but the waiting time for the food was quite long,around 25 minutes. One of the dishes that was supposed to come “on fire” arrived without the fire. The pierogi were tasty but overcooked, and the żurek was served with only about 3/4 soup in bread. The waitress also forgot about our drinks, so we received them at the very end of the meal. The food was generally tasty and the atmosphere was nice, but everything felt very chaotic. The waitress kept apologizing to everyone around for different issues, which showed she was overwhelmed. With more staff, the service would probably run much more smoothly. On the positive side, the PRL-style decor is interesting and something different.
